Before choosing a specific field, you need to understand the major focus of each course.

Biotechnology deals with life sciences and exploits living organisms in various industries like Agriculture, Medicines, Food, Biofuels, Bioenergy. On the other hand, Biomedical engineering is a multidisciplinary STEM course combining biology and engineering. Biomedics will stick around health, medicine and technology.

So If you are not sure which field of specialization you want to go then explore Biotechnology, If you are sure that you want to dive deep in technology, health and medicine then Biomedical Engineering is a good fit for you.

Introspect yourself, ask yourself what intrigues you more, and just follow your own call.

      Good Luck!!

I agree with Vikas Dodke’s answer. In addition to his words, I would like to add few points in favor of pursuing Mtech in Biomedical Engineering.

The present scenario has open wide opportunity in the healthcare and biotechnology sectors. Mtech is a technical degree, while M.Sc is more into Research and is incomplete without Phds. Though Phd is another world, will cover up in other answer.

Keeping in mind if you are someone tech enthusiast and is looking forward for job in industrial line, Mtech is preferred. Moreover VITs is developing its technical wing and give one exposure to wide scale internships, technologies and discoveries in the field of healthcare. One can develop soft skills (Computer), dry lab skills(bioinformatics) and wet lab skills. It will provide a base for your career and at the end of Mtech program, One by his/her exposure will be at better position to analyse which career path to go ahead with.

MSc, in India is more aligned with Phds and is more research oriented.

I hope you get little clarity on the question you put forward.
